Aleen Swano-Elizabeth (Helms) Leaks

MRS. ALEEN HELMS LEAKS, 95 of MONROE, NC passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Monroe Rehabilitation Center in Monroe, NC.

Funeral Servcies will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the Harris Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Monroe, NC. Reverend Denny Chambers, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in the Clarksville AME Zion Church Cemetery in Monroe, NC.

A public viewing will be held 1:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, Decemebr 19, 2016 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC.

Ms Aleen was born Saturday, April 9, 1921 in Union County, NC a daughter of the late Ashley Helms and Leona Blount Helms. She attended the public schools of Union County, NC and was employed by Union Memorial Hospital in Monroe, NC for many years until she retired.

Ms. Aleen loved gardening, canning food, cooking and spending time with family where she was blessed to see five generations of her family.  Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, James Leaks; two sons, Lloyd Henry Leaks and Charles Lee Leaks;  one daughter,  Marilyn Leaks Wynn and a son-in-law,  Jacob Wynn, two brothers; Clifford Helms and Thurman Helms and a grandson; Rodney Leaks.

She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories two sisters, Pansy Helms and Margaret Helms White both of Monroe, NC; grandchildren,  Jeffery Leaks (Shirleen) of Monroe, NC, Tracy Hamilton (Calvin) of Indian Trail, NC, Lamont Leaks (Keisha) of Wingate, NC, Chris Leaks (Nichelle) of Monroe, NC, Calvin Wynn of Las Vegas, NV, Cory Wynn of Charlotte, NC and Renay Wynn of Wingate, NC, five great-grandchildren and one daughter-in law;, Mary Huntley Leaks of Monroe, NC and a host of aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leaks family.
