MRS. ALICE LEE HAYWOOD PANKEY, 80 of TROY, NC, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 at First Health// Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Rose of Sharon Church of Christ Apostolic, Inc., 715 S. Russell St., Troy, NC. Mrs. Pankey's remains will lie in repose 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Thomasville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in MT. Gilead, NC.
(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering. Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)
A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday, November 5, 2021 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of MT. Gilead, NC which is serving the Pankey, Haywood and extended families.
Alice Lee Haywood Pankey , has completed her earthly life. Mrs. Alice Lee Haywood Pankey , a daughter of the late Walter James Haywood and Lillie Tyson Haywood, was born on Monday, December 16, 1940, in Montgomery County, North Carolina. She was called home to be with her brothers and sister on Saturday, October 30, 2021 in the First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC, following a short illness.
Alice Lee Haywood Pankey (AL) received her education in the Montgomery Public Schools of Peabody. She ws formerly employed at Evans Rest Home for 14 years. She was also employed with Capel's Rug Company until her health began to decline.
Alice Lee Haywood Pankey (AL) as she was fondly called, confessed Christ at an early age andjoined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully. She also attended Thomasville Baptist Church with her husband, the late Willie Clarence Pankey. To there union, one daughter, Lemon Pankey, whom preceded her in death.
Those preceding her in death, her parents, Walter and Lillie Haywood; sisters, Annie Mae Thomas and Hattie Lee Miller; brothers, Lenzo Robert, Robert (RB), Sylvester and Lester Edward Haywood; brothers-in-law, Maston Thomas, T.C. Miller, Charles Steele, mother-in-law, Beatrice French and sister-in-law, Mary French.
She leaves to cherish loving memories to her only daughter, Vertina Meschelle Pankey, of Albemarle, NC; two grandchildren, Asia Pankey and David Pankey; four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Haywood, Rachel Haywood and Nellie Steele and Judy Hood; special great-nephew, Joran Haywood; brothers-in-law, James and Bobby Lindsay;special caretaker, Wanda Watkins of Mt. Gilead, NC; special friends, Aason and Gelinda Capel. Fannie Mae Morman (FM), Elder Williard Caprenter, Minister Katie Raley; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
