Kent peacefully ascended to his heavenly home on Monday, May 2, 2022. He now joins his parents, siblings, Lewis and Ambrose, and father-in-law, Ephriam Stancil, who preceded him in death.
Kent, as he was fondly known, loved his family and never met a stranger. He had a love for connecting his family members with one another, and he knew the history of how they were all related. Kent loved to dance and listen to music. He entertained and opened his home to everyone; enjoying DJing, hosting cookouts and grilling. His heart was never closed off to no one. Everybody knew he would give his all, and if he couldnt at the moment, he would find a way to make it happen later.
Kent graduated from West Montgomery Hugh School with the Class of 1977. He also attended Sheet Metal and Welding Trade School in Harford, CT., where he graduated with a certification in Welding and Mechanical Engineering. Kent's career path took him in many directions, where he retired from both Phillip Morris and Norwood Manufacturing, Inc.
Kent loved serving the Lord through playing the piano and singing with the choirs. At an early age, he joined Roper Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Mt. Gilead, NC. He continued serving God through his music in, by playing the keyboard for Providence Baptist Church, in Mt. Gilead, NC, until he was not able to do so anymore.. His hard work and service was not in vain.
He leaves his most special memories to his beloved wife, Toni Butler McAuley of the home;three children, Kendal McAuley (Michael) of Mt. Gilead, NC, Lakita McIlwain (Fredrich) of Rock Hill, SC and Anthony MCDonald (Tietia) of Petersburg, VA; four grandchildren, Derias, Devon, Malique and Keeva; three sisters, Gwen Smals (Albert), Angela Martin (Billy) and Gloria Berry (Daryl); five brothers, Cephus McAuley, Eldon McAuley (Marie), Earl McAuley(Renee), Tim McAuley (Lesley) and Jerry Dumas (Mailia); his mother-in-law, Sallie Stancil; five sisters-in-law,, three brothers-in-law; his God-son Chase; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from all over.
