Annie Louise (Garrison) Bowden

March 17, 1940 — June 17, 2018

MRS. ANNIE LOUISE GARRISON BOWDEN, 78 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Atrium North East Medical Center in Concord, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00  am Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Leah Richter Levin Memorial Auditorium, 102 S. School Street, Mount Gilead, NC 27306.

Interment  will follow in the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Mount Gilead, NC.

Family visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  A public viewing will be from 11:00 am  to  7: 00 pm Friday June 22, 2018  at Harris  Funeral Home & Cremations of Mount Gilead, NC whom  is serving the Bowden, Garrison and extended family.

Annie was the 13th child born to the late Reverend Lorenzo and Mary Alice Barrow Garrison on Sunday, March 17, 1940 in Pamplico County, NC (Bayboro.) NC

Annie was reared in Bayboro, NC, where she attended the Pamplico County School System.  After graduating, she left home and moved to Red Bank, NJ., to join her other siblings

While in Red Bank, She attended Pilgrim Baptist Church and worked at Lerner's Department Store.  Annie later met the love of her life, Bobby Bowden.  They got married December 24, 1960 and moved back to North Carolina.

She became an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she was a Deaconess, Sunday School Secretary and an active member of the Pee Dee Association.

Annie loved participating in the local fashion shows, wowing the audiences with the latest fashions.  She never met a stranger.  She was seamstress working with Gilead Manufacturing and American Lockstitch until she retired.  She was a community activist, working with the Concerned Parents Club, Oakridge Chapter #547 Order of the Eastern Stars and Highland Community Center.

Annie was predeceased by four sisters, Emma, Willie, Neva and Dorothy and three brothers, Herman, Lorenzo and Walter.

Annie leaves cherished memories to a loving husband of 58 years, Bobby Lawrence Bowden, Sr., Two devoted sons, Bobby Jr.(Doris) of Winterville, NC and Rodney (special friend, Cathy Wester) of Mt. Gilead, NC; four grands, Lamont, Keisha, Joshua and Jessika;  four great-grandchildren, Javar, Matthew, Mary Jane, and Rassal; three brothers, Charles Garrison( Delores) and Jesse Garrison (Mattie) of Red Bank, NJ, and Phillip Garrison of Kinston, NC,,;  three sisters,  Mary Boynton of Richmond, VA, Catherine " Kitty," Hamilton (Alphonso) of Staunton, VA and Eva G. Davis of Kinston, NC; in-laws, Billy Bowden, Alton McCoy, Doris (,Rev. Lonnie ) Cole, JoAnn (Jim) Leake, all of Mt. Gilead, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
