MRS. BILLIE MAE ALSOBROOKS OATES, 72 of MATTHEWS, NC passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Monday, March 23, 2020 at the Piney Grove East Missionary Baptist Church, 1708 Ansonville Rd., Marshville, NC.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Due to COVID 19 (Coronavirus) pandemic for the safety of the family and the public, only 40 immediate family members will be allowed in the service.

A public viewing for the public will be held 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC.

Billie Mae Alsobrooks Oates, a daughter of the late Henry Alsobrooks and Bessie Alsobrooks, was born on Wednesday, August 20, 1947.  She departed this earthly life on Monday, March 16, 2020, surrounded by family who loved her dearly.

She accepted Christ at an early age and later became a member of Piney Grove East Missionary Baptist Church.

Billie Mae was employed by Carrington Place Nursing Home for 23 years until her health began to decline.  She was kind, loving and outgoing.  She loved her family more than anything.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Theresa Barrett; a sister Willie Mae Williams; a brother, Gary Alsobrooks; step-grandson, Leon Alsobrooks and niece, Bessie Taylor.

Billie Mae leaves to cherish fond memories to her husband, William Lewis Oates; one son, Wesley Tyrone Morris (Dorothy) of Matthews, NC; step-daughter, Trevina Washington of Mineral Springs, NC; one sister, Sarah Colwell (Charlie) of Waxhaw, NC; special sister-in-law,  Ethel Mae Scott of Monroe, NC; one granddaughter, Shaneda Streater; 4 great-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
