Bishop Elsie Jr. Gaines, 79 of High Point, NC died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at his home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012 at First Emmanuel Baptist Church, 833 Leonard Avenue in High Point, NC with burial to follow in Carolina Biblical Gardens in Jamestown, NC.

A  Native of Montgomery County, NC and a retiree of the City of High Point and Bishop of Friendship Holiness Church of High Point, NC until his death.  Bishop Gaines was past affiliated with First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Asheboro, NC, True Standard Holiness Church and Community Holiness Church of High Point, NC.

Survivors include his wife, Ernestine Watkins Gaines of the home; his children, Elsie Leroy Gaines of Greensboro, NC, Sonya Gaines Thompson of Trinity, NC, Tina Gaines of High Point, NC and Phoebe Gaines McInnis of Archdale, NC, step-children, Lisa Cohen and Lynn Taylor of Charlotte, NC, Tyrone Belton of High Point, NC and Troy Belton, Sr. of Stone Mountain, GA; two sisters; Clara Miller of Asheboro, NC and Dora Harris of Mount Gilead, NC; one brother; Louis Gaines of Asheboro, NC; Nine Grandchildren and Eleven Great-grandchildren.

Public viewing will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2012, 1pm to 7pm at the Harris Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Gilead, NC  and Thursday, November 8, 2012, 11am to 12 noon followed by a Visitation 12noon to 1pm at First Emmanuel Baptist Church in High Point, NC.  Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC is in charge of all services.
