MR. BOBBY LEE MASSEY, 79 of MONROE, NC passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, Rosa L. Bell Event Center, 503 Maurice St., Monroe, NC. Mr. Massey's remains will lie in repose 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, Rosa L.Bell Event Center prior to the service.
Masonic Rites and Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC.
(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering. Also use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)
A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC which is serving the Massey, Brown, Brewer and extended families.
Mr. Bobby Lee Massey, a son of the late William (Bill) Massey and Blanche Brown Massey, was born on December 23, 1942 in Union County, NC. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, January 29, 2022 atb his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby was a member of the Historic Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend now Bishop Osco E. Gardin Jr., for over 27 years, where he served on the Trustee Ministry, Usher Ministry, Men of Dominion Ministry and the Culinary Ministry. He was employed with the Union County Public Schools System for over 30 years.
Bobby was a graduate of Winchester High School Class of 1962. He was a member of the Hope Lodge #32 of Monroe, NC.
Bobby loved grilling, fishing, gardening and helping others. Bobby was a loving person to all his family and friends. He loved watching football and was a Carolina Panthers Fan for life.
Those preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Willie Mae Massey Stevens and four brothers, Donnie, Johnny, James and Alfred Massey.
He leaves to cherish loving and fond memories to his loving and caring wife of 52 years, Alma Brewer Massey of the home; one son, Randy Massey of Monroe, NC; five daughters, Amelia Massey Ham (Ben Ham) of Waxhaw, NC, Anethia Massey Crowder (Rev. Robert Crowder) , Cheryl Walker Redmon, Carrie Massey and Robin Massey, all of Monroe, NC; step-son, Terrance Lackey of Florida; god-daughter, Felicia McGriff of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Clara Thompson (Rev. Carnell Thompson) of Charlotte, NC, Pearl Massey of Brooklyn, NY and Victoria Massey of Wingate, NC; one brother, Tommy Massey of Monroe, NC; brother-in-law, William Brewer of Monroe, NC; sister-in-law, Angie Massey of Bronx, NY; two best friends, William Jordan and Haywood Crowder; two special friends and caretakers, his ride or die, Loraine Washington and Romena Hall, both of Monroe, NC; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grands, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
