Brenda Carol (Kilgo) Lyles

MRS. BRENDA CAROL KILGO LYLES, 53 of MONROE, NC passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the Greater Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 3607 Andrew Jackson Dr., Waxhaw, NC.  Mrs. Lyles remains will lie in repose 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the church prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, NC.

(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering.  Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)

A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC which is serving the Lyles, Kilgo and extended families,

Mrs. Brenda Carol Kilgo Lyles , 53, was born on Wednesday, September 20, 1967 to Mr. Robert J. Massey and Ms. Elizabeth Kilgo in Monroe, North Carolina.

Brenda was a 1986 graduate of Sun Valley High School.  She later continued her education m recieving a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Liberty University.

Brenda joined Red Level Missionary Baptist Church where she diligintly served in many ministeries until her her health began to decline.

Along with husband, they were one of the longest active foster parents in Union County.  She assisted in rearing many children.

She then opened her own in-home day care center called "Smiling Faces" for several years before branching out to other local childcare facilities, where many loved her.  She was always the life of the party.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, James Kilgo and Bobby Massey. Brenda entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 17, 2021, at her home surrrounded by her loving family.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband, Lorance Lyles, Sr.; their children, Randall Kilgo, Lorance Lyles, Jr., Kionie Lyles, Dejon Lyles, Bridgette Bell, India Lyles, Janeria Lyles and god-daughter, Chyna Kilgo; 8 grandchildren, Kimora Kilgo, Jayda Lyles, Lorance Lyles III, Kingston Weir, Noah Gainey, Tyler Alexander, Khylie Lyles and Kionie Lyles.

Brenda is also survived by her parents, Robert J, Massey and Elizabeth Kilgo; brothers, Ricky Kilgo (Bridgette) of Marshville, NC, Tracy Kilgo (Lisa) of Matthews, NC, Curtis Kilgo of Watertown, NY, James Massey of Monroe, NC, Ferrris Massey (Victoria) of Pageland, SC, Jackie Massey of Badin, NC, Jeffrey Massey (Tammy) of Marshville, NC; sisters, Ruby Phipps (Therron) of Greensboro, NC, Mary Buchanon (Frank) of Monroe, NC, Tangeka Skinner (Aaron) and Lawanda Kilgo, all of Charlotte, NC, Lola Kilgo of Mnahattan, NY, Linda Stevenson (Dupree) of Monroe, NC and Laura Steward (Cary) of Knoxville, TN; mother-in-law, Lillie Lyles of the home, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
