Brite Shirley (Massey) Brown

MRS. BRITE "Shirley" MASSEY BROWN, 84 of WAXHAW, NC passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church (West), 6712 Sims Rd., Waxhaw, NC.  Visitation will be held 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

A public viewing will be held 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC which is serving the Brown, Massey and extended families.

Mrs. Brown was born Monday, August 13, 1934 in Union County, NC a daughter of the late  Ned and Minnie Norwood Massey. She accepted Christ at an early age joining the Church of God in Mineral Springs, NC and she attended Western Union School in Waxhaw, NC.  She married Mr. Plaxico "P.B." Brown, Jr. and joined the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church (West) in Waxhaw, NC  where she was an active member, President of the Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, President of the Usher Board, Member of the Missionary Circle and the Adult Choir until her health began to decline. Brite was a former employee of Charlotte Pipe and Foundry where she worked for over 25 years.

She leaves to share her loving memories to her husband; Plaxico Brown, Jr. of the home, six loving children, Glinda R. Mills (Hubert) of Waxhaw, NC, Deborah L. Hicks (Johnny) of Charlotte, NC, James P. Brown of Charlotte, NC, Melvin P. Brown (Paula) of Waxhaw, NC, Alton L. Brown of Charlotte, NC and Prentis E. Brown (Angela) of Waxhaw, NC, one sister; Doris Massey of Monroe, NC, 13 Grandchildren, 9 Great-grandchildren, two God children; Dr. Parthenia B. Richardson and Rodney Tillman, extended family, Jessie Bailey, Gladys Blakeney, Bernadette Faulkner and Evangelist Naomi Williams and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
