Burlee Fairley

MR. BURLEE FAIRLEY, 82 of MT. GILEAD, NC passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Richmond County Hospice, Inc., Rockingham, NC.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, November 24, 2019, at the Parson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 561 Tedder Road, Ex-Way Community, MT. Gilead, NC, Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

A public viewing will be 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm  Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of MT.  Gilead, NC which is serving the Fairley, Ewing and extended families.

Burlee was born on Thursday, April 22, 1937 in Hoke County, NC to the late Veatrice Thomas and James Fairley.  He peacefully departed his life on Tueaday, November 19, 2019, at Richmond County Hospice, Inc., Rockingham, NC.

Burlee was a graduate of Peabody High School in Troy, NC.  He was employed as a machine operator at Cassie Cotillion in Albemarle, NC and later at the Forestry Service.  He enjoyed working around the yard and outdoors.

Burlee confessed Christ at an early age and joined Parson Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Burlee was loved very much and will be missed dearly.

As Burlee dealt with his illness, he was a fighter to the end,   He was encouraged and helped out by his main lady "Babe Ruth", as he called her kids and grand kids and Hospice Home care, along with many, many more.

Burlee was preceded in death by his parents, Veatrice Thomas and James Fairley of Hoke County; brother, Jerry Fairley; wife, Theora D. Fairley and special uncle, Lee Jay Thomas.

Burlee leaves to cherish loving and fond memories, his fiance', Fannie Ruth Ewing of the home and sons, Jamie Ewing (Sharon) of Mt. Gilead, NC and Jasper Fairley(Doris) of Germany; daughters, Gwen Boulware (Steve) of High Point, NC, Tammy Fairley of Albemarle, NC and Velma French (Chris) of Mt. Gilead, NC; brother-in-law, Wiley Dumas (Shirley) of Greensboro, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
