Mr. Carl Junior Clyburn, also affectionately known as Tom, Mr. Tom, Dad and Grandpa, was born on Tuesday, June 5, 1934, unto the late Bertha Wright and Elmer Clyburn in Lancaster County, SC.  He was awarded his guardian angel wings on Thursday, June 4, 2020, one day shy of his 86th birthday, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey.

Carl Clyburn was educated in the public schools of Lancaster County, in South Carolina, where he met and married the late Thelma  Dorothy Clyburn.  To this union, two children, Denise Carlene and Carl Junior Clyburn, were born.  He subsequently married the late Willie Mae Clyburn and they moved to New York City for ten years.  While in NYC, he was employed by Parkside Plaza.  They returned to Indian Trail, North Carolina and started their own business, Clarl Clyburn's Garbage Service..  They were both members of Glorious Tabernacle Church in Monroe, NC.  Carl Clyburn moved to Paterson, New Jersey in May of 2015, where he was surrounded by the love of his daughter, Denise Clyburn, his son-in-law, William Clyburn and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Carl Clyburn was a devoted father, brother, husband, grandfather, uncle, nephew and friend.  He was a sharp dresser and a dedicated and hardworking man.  He enjoyed watching TV, sitting on the front porch and talking to his family.  He also loved to keep his fleet of cars and trucks clean, going to the beach and attending live wrestling events with his favorite  sister-in-law, Johnnie Mae Caudle.  His favorite food was potatoes cooked any style and he would not let a day go by without opening a can of Vienna Sausages and eating a healthy serving of grits.  Everybody knew not to serve him chicken or turkey.  " Girl, I can't eat that " is what he would say.  No one ever got enough nerve to tell him that vienna sausage was made of chicken.

Carl Clyburn was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Clyburn; second wife,  Willie Mae Clyburn; son, Carl Clyburn, Jr.; brothers, Edward, Joe, Neil, Cliff and RJ Clyburn and one sister, Marcella Horton.

Left to cherish loving and fond memories are his devoted daughter, Denise Clyburn (William) of the home in Paterson, NJ; step-son, RJ Clyburn (Kathy); one sister, Vera Mungo of Monroe, NC; one brother, Ralph Clyburn of Monroe, NC; special sister-in-law, Johnnie Mae Caudle of Monroe, NC; brother-in-law, Lenzo Clyburn of Marshville, NC; ten grandchildren, Carlene, Thelma, Williiam Jr., Karl, Amber, Summer, Nicholas, and Brandon Clyburn, Raheem McClan and Marie Craig.  fourteen great-grandchildren of Paterson, NJ; Zayla, Zamar, Tahnyea and William III, Ivory Davis, Tiona Harris, Cammarree Benbow. Savion, Suquan, Tyriek, Felicia, Jared, Amyrei, and Diamond Brown; five great-great-grandchildren, Amirah Evans, Prinston Clyburn, Ahmee and Ah'zii Brown and Parker Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  May he rest in peace until we meet again.
