MRS. CAROLE LYNN McLEOD THOMAS, 75 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC (Wadeville Community) passed away March 22, 2017 at her home.
Funeral Services will be held 3pm Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Wadeville AME Zion Church, 1433 Bruton - Carpenter Rd., Mount Gilead, NC 27306. Reverend Martha Greene, Pastor, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the Bruton Cemetery.
A public viewing will be held 1pm to 7pm Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC.
Carole was born on Friday, May 16, 1941, to the late Harvey and Amanda Hill McLeod, in Montgomery County, NC. She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at her home.
Carole attended the public schools of Montgomery County, NC, and graduated from Peabody High School. She was a very active member of Wadeville AME Zion Church and never said no to anything she was asked to do. She served in the following capacities; Church Secretary, President of the Missionary Board, member of the choir, the community combined choir(Wadeville-Clarks Grove), Class Leader, Kitchen Committee, Church conference delegate, Steward board, Sunday school conference representative and financial secretary.
She was united in holy matrimony to David " Buck" Thomas, Jr, on February 15, 1960, and to this Union two children were born. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1992. Carole was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Louise Smalls, Kaye Steele, Ruth Powell and Jewel Greene.
Those left to cherish loving memories are her devoted family, daughter, Cynthia " Skip" Thomas-Butler ( Kim) of Charlotte, NC and son, David Fitzgerald "Gerald" Thomas (Demetrice) of Asheboro, NC; two grandsons, Courtney D. Thomas (LaShanna) of Lymon, SC and Colby G. Thomas ( Wanda ) of Charlotte, NC; two great-grandchildren and one expected; one brother, John McLeod of Irvington, NJ; three sisters, Brenda Lilly and Barbara McLeod, both of Mt. Gilead, NC and Elaine M. Pemberton ( Chris) of Jacksonville, Fla., sisters and brothers- In-law, Vaggaree Sue Smith, Mattie Thomas, Eva Thomas, and Norma Jean Thomas; Augustus. Thomas, James Thomas and Jim Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special thank you to her nephew, Emmanuel Thomas for always taking good care of his aunt Carole.
