MS. CASSERLEY MAY " Cherry" DONALDSON LACKEY, 80 of MONROE, NC passed away Friday, May 3, 2019 at Atrium Health / Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 503 Maurice St., Monroe, NC. Her remains will lie in repose 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Church prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, NC.

"Cherry" was a daughter of Mrs. Maude Donaldson and Mr. Gladsford Donaldson, was born in the parish od Clarendon Jamaica on Thursday, the 7th of July 1938. Cherry lived in several countries during her life that included England, Holland, Japan and the United States. She spent most of her life working in the retail business, then she became a Certified Nurses Assistant at Union Memorial Hospital and her most important job was that of a phenomenal Mother and Homemaker.
Cherry was preceded in death by her parents, Gladsford and Maude Donaldson; her sisters, Vernice and Pet; her brothers, Clive and Keith and her ex-husband, William Lackey.
She was a deeply loving mother, devout friend, and kind to all, She wasa God-fearing Christian woman. Although her health permitted her from attending church regularly, she spent much time in prayer and worship. Cherry battled cancer and survived. She is a great inspiration to all that knew her.
She'll be dearly missed and fondly remembered. Cherry has touched so many hearts and has left a blessing of love and kindness that will be forever present in the hearts and minds of those who knew her. Thank you mama for all your undying love and devotion.
Cherry leaves behind to mourn her husband and companion, Bobby Massey of Monroe, NC; her only sonm Terrance Lackey; daughter-in-law, Tressa Lackey and grandchildren, Tae'Lor (20) and Ty (16) Lackey and grandchildren, all currently residing in New Port Richey, FL; her sister, Shirley McPherson of Jamaica and brother, Buke Donaldson of Essex, England, and a host of nieces, and nephews, that include Sandra, Horace, Phillipa, Dawn, Bev, Sonia, Juliet, Robert, Tony, Velta, Avis, Rose, Glen, Anita, Alfred, Mikey, Grance ans Phllip, just a few.
