Catherine Jane Martin

Mrs. Catherine Jane Thomas Martin, 85 of Mount Gilead, NC, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at  her home.  Funeral Services will be held 11am Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Leah R. Levin Memorial Auditorium, 102  S. School St., Mount Gilead, NC 27306. Reverend Billy Alston (nephew), Eulogist.  Interment will follow in the Thomasville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  Public viewing will be held 11am to 7pm Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC

Mrs. Martin was married to the late William Lee " Bo"  Martin, Sr., and to this union 12 children were born.  Five sons preceded her in death, Jimmy, Curtis, James, Rickey and William Lee Martin Jr.  A grandson, Jimmy Lee Martin also predeceased her along with sisters, Jeannette Alston, Janice Bennett, Lonnie Mae Bowden, Jessie Thomas and Gwendolyn Thomas.  She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Jane Thomas and was born on August 23, 1927 in Montgomery County.

Those left to cherish loving and fond memories are her sons and daughters, George Martin, Kay Smith (Albert), Vivian Martin, Bernice Martin, Vancie Martin, Mary Ramani(Gary) all of Mt. Gilead, and Robert Martin of Biscoe, NC; one sister, Martha Watkins of Mt. Gilead, 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins, Rev. Dewey Rudisell and Betty V. Lilly, both of Mt, Gilead, other cousins and other relatives and dear friends.
