MRS. CATRAIN LENORA NIXON HAMMOND, 55 of MONROE, NC passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at Atrium Health / Union in Monroe, NC.
Graveside Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, September 3, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1002 Adams St., Monroe, NC.
(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering. Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)
A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Harris Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Monroe, NC which is serving the Hammond, Nixon and extended families.
Catrain Lenora Nixon Hammond , (The Big LN) was born to Wendell P. Nixon and Vinnie L. Nixon, on Thursday, February 3, 1965 in Union County. She departed this life on Monday, August 30, 2021.
Catrain was a baptized witness who dedicated her life to Jehovah.
Catrain , who was known as Lenora, Nessie or the BIG LN, who was loved by many and loved many.
She was a high school graduate from Monroe High. She spent many years at Data Plex Microfilming and her last years, caring for her grandchildren.
She loved to shop, travel and spend time with family and " keeping it real.". To know her was to love her because she never meant any harm. She will be remembered for her killer fashion and love and compassion she had for others.
Catrain was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell P. Nixon and Vinnie L. Nixon; two sisters, Edna M. Chambers and Shirley D. Nixon Allen and a brother, Lee Edward Staton.
She leaves to cherish loving and fond memories to her husband, Irvin Hammond of the home; four children, Marilyn Nixon, Derrick Nixon (Yolanda Autry), Ursula Nixon (Robert Smith) and Samuel Nixon; three step-children, Kendra Richardson, Dhalya Hammond and Jermany Hammond; three sisters, Teresa Quinn, Carrie Shaw (Bobby) and Tiney Blakeney; one brother, Johnny Staton (Johnie Mae); grandchildren, Malik, Ontario, Robert Jr., Zachary, Zamaria, Nya, Avyon, Leyah, Andrenrion, Elijah, Zoey, Isaiah, Riley, Ryan, Ke'ion, A'lyna, Camille, Chance and Tristan, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
