Charles Robert Brace

MR. CHARLES ROBERT BRACE, 75 of WINGATE, NC passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Royal Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Matthews, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 pm Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Nicey Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 318 Camden Rd., Marshville, NC.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be held 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC whom is serving the Brace Family.

Mr. Charles Robert Brace " Boo Boo", was a son of the late Walter Brace and Katie Sassafras Brace, was born on Sunday, July 19, 1942 in Union County, NC.

Robert joined Nicey Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where he was a Deacon for 30 plus years.  He also served in many other capacities including Head Deacon  and Vacation Bible School Superintendent.  He attended the Union County Public Schools (East Union High School).  He attended South Piedmont Community College ( Polkton ) Anson Technical College earning a certificate of supervision .

Robert was a retired employee of the Union County Public Schools, serving at Monroe Middle School.  He had been employed by MaLeck Industries in Marshville as a manufacturing supervisor.  Robert was predeceased by his wife, LaVonia R. Blakn ey Brace; his parents, Walter and Katie Brace; brother, Walter "June" Brace and sisters, Barbara Jean Brace, Nonie Brace, Hallie V. Brace Lotharp and Hattie Brace.

He leaves loving and fond memories to his six children; Roderic Brace (Joy), Stephanie Brace Sanders (Thomas)  all of Charlotte, NC, Shirlette Brace-Crawford (David) of Atlanta, GA, Sharleen Sawyer of Wingate, NC, Sherita Brace of Charlotte, NC, and ShaVonia Brace of Wingate, NC; 7 grandchildren, Kirah, Brittney, Charles, James, Keonia, Karmyn and Prinzton; one great-grandson, Victor Maurice; one sister, Beatrice Suber (John) of Baltimore, MD; 5 sisters-in-law, Frances Brace of Baltimore, MD, Rutha Blakney and Mermisteen of Wingate, NC, Rita Blakeney Webb (Rodney) of Monroe, NC, Nita Blakney Henderson (Lynn) of Henderson, NC; one brother in law, James Curtis Blakney, Jr.,(Deborah ) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
