Clara Mae (Mcleod) Jones

MRS. CLARA MAE McLEOD JONES, 83 of SANTA BARBARA, CA formerly of MT. GILEAD, NC (Wadeville Community) passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Greenbriar Assistant Living Center in Fairmont, NC.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Monday, July 1, 2019 at  Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of MT. Gilead, NC.

Interment will follow in the Bruton Cemetery (Wadeville Community) MT. Gilead, NC.  Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of MT. Gilead, NC is serving the Jones, McLeod and extended families.

Clara Mae McLeod Jones, a daughter of the late Harvey and Amanda Hill McLeod, was born on Wednesday, July 15, 1936, in Montgomery County, NC.  She departed this life on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, in the Greenbriar Assisted Loving Facility om Fairmont, North Carolina.

Clara attended the public schools of Montgomery County, North Carolina and graduated from Peabody High School in Troy, NC.

Clara was united in holy matrimony to Charles Jones of New York and to this union one daughter was born.  Charles preceded her in death along with parents; sisters, Louise Smalls, Kay Steele, Ruth Powell, Jewel Green and Carole Thomas, slong with 6 nephews.  She will be truly missed.

Those left to cherish and to honor her memory are her daughter, Gail Jones; one grandson, Marcus and a granddaughter, Rochelle Jones, and three great-grandchildren, all of Georgia; three sisters, Brenda Lilly and Barbara McLeod, both of Mt. Gilead, NC and Elaine Pemberton (Chris) of Charlotte, NC: brother, John McLeod (Barbara) of Irvington, NJ, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Thank you to the Greenbriar Assisted Living Facility (Hospice) for their care.
