Connie (Walker) Crowder

Monroe, NC

MRS. CONNIE WALKER CROWDER, 61 of MONROE, NC passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 at the Lake Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Indian Trail, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Nicey Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 318 N. Camden Rd., Marshville, NC.  Mrs. Crowder remains will lie in repose 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the church prior to the service with Interment to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, NC.

(Due the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing will be required to wear a mask or facial covering.  Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)

A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at  Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC. which is serving the Crowder, Walker and extended Families.

Connie Walker Crowder , daughter of the late Clarence C. "Tom" Walker and Doree Blakeney Walker, was born on November 28, 1960 in Monroe, North Carolina.

Connie was reared and nurtured at Langford Chapel CME Church and served in various capacities; Secretary of the Trustee Board, Stewardess, Pastor's Aide, Director of Vacation Bible School and would graciously give her well known gift and talents to the decoration and food ministries of the church.  She served faithfully until her health declined.

She was a 1979 graduate of Monroe High School and received her Early Childhood credentials and certifications from South Piedmont Community College.

Connie was blessed with many talents and used her talent of caring for children as a five-star home daycare provider/owner and operator for 30 plus years,  She used her talent of cooking as a caterer as well as her creative talent of floral  arrangements for weddings, baby showers, church , home decor, and various  and various other events and she loved to scrapbook. Connie loved hard and had no problems in expressing this to her family, friends or and stranger that she came in contact with.  Her smile was infectious.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Carnell and Brian Walker.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 38 years, Quinton Crowder; two daughters, LaShanta "Michele" Walker (Ollie Shepherd) and Jacqueline McDowell  (Michael); sisters, Etta Jackson (William), Rev. Peggy Sullivan and Barbara Walker, all of Monroe, NC; two brothers, Jerry Lee (Gwendolyn) Walker and Campanella (Carolyn)  Walker of Charlotte, NC; two special sisters, Cathy Jones and Faye Crowder-Phillips; mother-in-law, Laycola Crowder; four grandsons, Jaylan Walker, Ollie "Trey" Shepherd III, Jysen Shepherd and Maddox McDowell; one great-grandson, Cobi Walker; one god-son; god-daughter; two bonus granddaughters, and a host of sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
