MRS. CYNTHIA BOWDEN BLACKWELL KIMBER, 60 OF HOLLY SPRINGS, NC, formerly of Mt. Gilead, NC, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 18, 2022, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 North West Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC, with burial in the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery, Mt. Gilead, NC.
She leaves behind her husband, whom she married December 24, 2021, James Williams Kimber; two sons, Amadeo and Jordao Blackwell; her four siblings, Ethelrine Hester (Perry) of Greensboro, NC, Thelma Garrett (Denison of Detroit, Mich., Dorothy Bowden Key of Mt. Gilead, nc and Callie Bowden, Jr..(Dolca Cuevas) of New Jersey; step-children; Shawntina, Shareka and Shainae Kimber; step-grandchildren, Nasia, Tyson, Kyron, Rachel, Bryson and Emory Kimber; an aunt; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cynthia was born on August 28, 1960 to the late Callie Jule Bowden, Sr., and Odessa Crawford Bowden in Montgomery County, NC. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Jaedon Blackwell.
She was a graduate of West Montgomery High School, Mt. Gilead, NC, where she spent her childhood.. As she grew older, she attended North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Durham, NC, where she earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology. She went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in Nursing at East Carolina Unibersity, Greenville, NC. She spent most of her career helping others as a Registered Nurse and later going on to be the Head of Robotics Program at Duke University Hospital.She received numerous awards and accolades throught her 25 year tenure, such as the Meritorious Service Award, which is a Distinguished Honor from Duke.
In her free time, Cynthia loved spending time with her family, reading, watching action movies, shopping, coking and being a devout Christian. She was always known to have a greatsense of humor, a warm and welcoming embrace, acd a joyful presence. Her smile and laughter would brighten up the darkest of rooms and she loved wholeheartedly.
Cynthia loved her church, Prince Chapel, and their pastor, Reverend Clifford Harris.
She was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends and she recently celebrated her 60th birthday.
