David Steele, Sr.

MR. DAVID STEELE, SR, 76 of MT. GILEAD, NC, passed away, Tuesday, December 7, 2020, in the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Graveside Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020 at McAuley Memorial Gardens, 1177 Thomasville Church Road, MT. Gilead, North Carolina..

A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday December 11, 2020 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of MT. Gilead, NC.

On Monday, December 7, 2020,God in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to call David Steele, Sr. , to his Heavenly home, while a patient at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, North Carolina.  We, his family and close friends, bow in humble submission to His divine will.

Born on Tuesday, November 21, 1944, in Montgomery County, NC, he was a son of the late Sidney Garner Steele, Sr., and Hazel Thomas Steele.

His formal education was received in the public schools of Montgomery County, NC.   His church affiliation embodied in the Mt. Zion AME Zion Church (Pee Dee Community) of Mt. Gilead, NC.

Mr. Steele was preceded in death by his parents; two  sisters, Emma Steele and Johnsie Steele Martin and four brothers; Sidney, Jr., Johnny, Alexander and James Steele.

Those left to cherish and to honor his memory, a loving daughter, Sabrina McDowell of Philadelphia, PA; two loving sons, David (April) Steele, Jr., of Stratford, CT and Sidney McDowell of Philadelphia, PA; a loving sister, Edna Steele Stanback of Mt. Gilead, NC and two brothers; Leroy (Vernell) Steele of Conway, SC and Pittman (Margaret) Steele of Winston-Salem, NC; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
