MS. DOCIA ALLIE HUEY HORTON, 89 of WAXHAW, NC passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Brookdale Assistant Living in Monroe, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Pleasant Plains Missionary Baptist Church, 3721 Shiloh Unity Rd., Lancaster, SC.

Her remains will lie in repose 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Monday, August 7, 2017 prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Docia a daughter of the late Charlie and Edna Harris Huey, was born on Sunday, July 1, 1928, in Lancaster, County, SC.

She was educated in the Lancaster County Public School System.  Her employment career included, Allen Overalls, Alisa Mills and a domestic engineer for over 25 years.

She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Lancaster, SC.  She later joined Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, where she was a devoted member of the Deaconess and Missionary Boards, Sunday School and Church Choir.

Sofia was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her dedication to Christ, her children and grandchildren was her calling.  She also spread her love and nurturing by caring for several foster children.   Sewing and cooking was always a passion she shared with everyone.

She was predeceased by her husband, Reverend Bruce Horton and two children, Betty H. Hood and Larry B Horton.

Left to cherish loving memories are her children, Hollis Clyburn ( late William) of Waxhaw, NC, Dr. Gloria Elliott (James) of Fayetteville, NC, Linda Lewis( John) and Trudy Hubbard( ,Vernell), all of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Mary Hancock (late Sam) of Charlotte, NC and Naomi Petteway( late Leo) of Brooklyn, NY; 14  grandchildren, 20  great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
