Dr. Mary A. Williams

Dr. Mary A. Williams, 71 of Monroe, NC died Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Hospice of Union County, Monroe, NC.  A Private Funeral Service to celebrate her life was held Monday, November 25, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home in Monroe, NC.

Born Friday, November 6, 1942 in Union County a daughter of the late Frank Williams and Margaret Ingram McCorkle.  Annie as she was so affectionately called, was a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother and a devoted educator until her retirement.  She was preceeded in death by her parents; baby girl Marguerite Elliott; four brothers, Sammie McCorkle, Wilson McCorkle, Steven McCorkle and Charles McCorkle and one sister Gwendolyn McCorkle Baker.

She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories her son, Mario J. Elliott, (Yolanda); a sister Dr. Barbara A. Covington, (John); three grandchildren; Arte Elliott, Andrew Elliott and Anna Elliott; a cousin John F. Williams, (Carolyn) and host of nieces, nephews cousins and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to her favorite charity, Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.  A tree will be planted as a Memorial at a later date.  Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe was in charge of all services and arrangements.
