MR. EDDIE BRICE COLEMAN, SR., 97 of TROY, NC , passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Biscoe, NC. Funeral Services will be held 11am Monday, October 12, 2015 at Covington Missionary Baptist Church, 838 S. Main St., Troy, NC 27371, with Visitation to be held 10:30 am to 10:55 am at the church prior to the service. Military Honors and Interment will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle, NC. A public viewing will be held 1:00pm to 7:00 pm Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC.
Mr. Coleman was born Saturday, September 28, 1918 in Chester, SC a son of the late Preston and Charlotte Simms Coleman. He was married to the late Maudestine Clinksdale Coleman, whom also was an educator. He was a US Army Veteran serving in World War II, a graduate of NC A&T State University in Greensboro, NC and was a teacher in the Montgomery County School System, teaching most of his career at Peabody High School in Troy, NC and concluding at West Montgomery High School in Mount Gilead, NC. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Coleman became Director of Basic Education for Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC, where he aided many adults in receiving their GED Certification and countless others in acheiving advance degrees in education. He was a very influential person in his community in a very great capacity, Family Member, Friend, Confidant, Mentor and Role Model.
Surviving are his two sons; Eddie Coleman, Jr. and wife Louise of Biscoe, NC and Ronald Coleman and his wife Theresa of Durham, NC, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of neices, nephews and other relatives and friends.
