Funeral Service will be Monday, August 11, 2014, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 426 South Main Street, Troy, NC at 12:00 noon, Viewing at 11:00 am at the church. Interment to follow in the Southside Cemetery, Troy, NC.
Mr. Moore was born on June 18, 1918, in Hickory, NC, the last surviving child of the late Ada and Charles Moore. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from NC A&T State University in 1939 and his Master of Science degree from the same university in 1940. Mr. Moore taught Agriculture at Bowman High School in the Anson County School System until his retirement. He was a Troy Town Commissioner for 16 years, and served on the Executive Board of The Farm Bureau until his failing health forced him to resign, and a Deacon in the First Congregational Church, Troy, NC, when he was an active member.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Utley Moore, on July 15, 2007. From this union are four surviving children, Rebecca Butler (Richard) of Washington, DC, Linda Banks (Charles) of Kinston, NC, Dorothy Duncan, of Philadelphia, PA, and Edward Moore, Jr.,(Eva) of Overland Park, KS, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Moore met no strangers. He loved to talk to everyone as he drove around Troy in his Chevy Truck. Many thanks ti Mrs. Bouie, Mrs. Hamilton and Larry Horne. His memories will always be cherished by his family.
