Eleanor Maxine (Cherry) Alexander

MRS. ELEANOR MAXINE CHERRY ALEXANDER, 64 of MONROE, NC passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00pm Monday, May 2, 2016 at Marvin AME Zion Church, 1525 Crane Rd., Waxhaw, NC. Reverend H.O. Anderson, Pastor, Eulogist, Visitation will be held 11:30am to 12:00pm at the Church prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

A public viewing wiil be held 12:00pm to 6:00pm Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC.

Born in Union County, NC, Tuesday, May 8, 1951 a daughter of the late Roosevelt and Amanda Robinson Cherry. She accepted Christ at an early age, where she was baptized at the Silver Mount Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC and she was currently a member of Marvin AME Zion Church of Waxhaw, NC where she was part of the Kitchen Ministry. After graduating from Parkwood High School Maxine was a School Bus driver for the Union County School System, where she drove for 33 years. Although we are sadden by the loss of Memaw , our love one, Heaven has truly gained a gem.  Memaw was preceded in death by her parents, daughter; Mecca Cherry, a brother; John E. Cherry and three sisters; Pauline Cherry, Carrie Witherspoon and Brenda Morrison.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband; Curtis Lee Alexander of the home, daughters; Maxie Cooper (Wesley) of Fayetteville, NC and Maria Hampton (Rayshone) of Charlotte, NC, son Kenya Cherry of Monroe, NC, grandchildren; Zana Hampton, Titus Cooper, Isaiah Cooper, Brazil Hampton and Elijah Cherry, sisters; Rosa Covington and Dorothy Laney of Waxhaw, NC, Betty Barrett of Monroe, NC Agnes Johnson (Thomas), Delores Cureton, Debra Holliday (Horace) all of Charlotte, NC, Virginia Smith of Alexandria, VA, brothers; James Cherry (Joyce) of Gainesville, FL and Ronnie Cherry (Sandra) of Waxhaw, NC, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
