MRS. ELLA LOUISE LILLY PEMBERTON, 90 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC, passed away Thursday , October 11, 2018, at her home
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Mount Zion AME Zion Church, 6748 NC Hwy. 73 West, Mount Gilead, NC 27306. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery
A public viewing will be held 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of Mount Gilead, NC, whom is serving the Pemberton, Lilly and extended families.
Ella Louise Lilly Pemberton, a daughter of the late Ada Lilly and Henry Ewing was born on Tuesday, March 20, 1928, in Montgomery County, NC. Her earthly life came to a close on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at her home after a lengthly illness.
Ms. Ella confessed Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Zion AME Zion Church where she served on the Usher Board and Missionary Society until her health began to decline. She received numerous certificates from the Greensboro District for several years for her missionary work. She was educated in the Pee Dee Community Colored School in Mt. Gilead. She was a Domestic Worker.
Ella was an expert on baking pound cakes, pies and potato salad. She enjoyed reading, sewing, planting flowers, and reading the charlotte observer, soap opera magazines, puzzle books while enjoying a bag of lays potato chips.
Ella was united in holy matrimony to the late Allen Pemberton and to this union 11 children were born; two preceded her in death, Barbara House and Gilbert Pemberton; one grandson, three sisters, two brothers, five brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, one great-niece, one uncle and aunt, all preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish her memories are her five daughters, Linda Faye Pemberton, Elizabeth Pemberton, Emma Pemberton, Sheila Pemberton and Ann Little, all of Mt. Gilead, NC; four sons; Steven Pemberton (Doris) of Troy, NC; Sylvester Pemberton (Angela) and Stanley Pemberton (Carolyn) all of Mt. Gilead, NC and Milton Pemberton of Norfolk, VA; 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
