Evaline (Tyson) Green

July 8, 1950 — January 25, 2020

MRS. EVALINE TYSON GREEN, 69 of MT. LAUREL, NJ formerly of MT. GILEAD, NC passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Mrs. Green was a daughter of the late Robert Tyson, Sr., and Nora Thomas Tyson and the wife of Mr. William A."Bill" Green of MT. Laurel, NJ. Mrs. Green was a Registered Nurse at the Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA for over 35 years.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm  Monday, February 10, 2020 at the Thomasville Missionary Baptist Church, 233 Thomasville Church Road, MT. Gilead, NC. Interment  will  follow in the church cemetery.

A public viewing will be held  1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of MT. Gilead, NC which is serving the Green, Tyson, Thomas and extended families.

On Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 3:32 p.m. in the afternoon, Evaline Tyson Green took her last breath as 18 of her closest family members stood praying hand in hand, around in a private hospital room, at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, watched her go home to be with the Lord.

Evaline Tyson Green was born was born in Mt. Gilead, NC on Saturday, July 8, 1950, to Robert Tyson, Sr., and Nora Thomas Tyson (both deceased)  and siblings, Christine Tyson Butler, Robert Tyson, Jr., and Vernon Kent Tyson and deceased Nannie R. Grear, Malloy Tyson and Herman Grier(raised like a brother).

Evaline met and fell in love with her husband of 44 years, William A. Green.  They exchanged vows in a small setting always planning to renew their vows in a grand ceremony.  Evaline and William have one son, Johannus A. Green.

Evaline resided in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, with her husband and son for over 36 years.  Evaline, affectionately known as "Lene", was raised in North Carolina until the age of 16, when her eldest sister, Nannie, Evaline moved to New Haven, Connecticut.  She graduated from Richard C. Lee High School and thereafter accepted into the nursing program at Southern Connecticut State University.  There she received her Baccalaureate of Science and RN Degree.

Evaline could boast about her 30+ years in Nursing.  She began working in the healthcare industry at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West havenm CT and with the State of Pennsylvania Registered Nurse Licensure, ACLS & BLS, she went on to accept a position at the Veterans Administration Center in Philadelphia, PA., as a staff nurse.  Evaline was quickly promoted to Clinical Supervisor and ultimately retired as a Nursing Administrator for Temple Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Evaline's management style was business professional.  She was proficient in several aspects of nursing, assessment, cordination, supervision and delivery of services to patients.  She had a passion and enthusiam for patient care.  Many in the family treated "Lene" like their own physian.  She was a superior cook, super-organizer, impeccabley neat and clean when it came to her home.

Among her many accolades, Evaline T. Green was the recipient of "Young People Young People Service Award, "Social Action Ministry Beulah Baptist Church Community Service Award", and the NAACP Community Service Honor."

Evaline was a fun loving person, often bridging the family from North to the South.  She never met a stranger and loved all her family and friends.  She will be missed by her family from New Jersey, North Carolina, Connecticut, Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Missouri, Maryland, Washington, Washington State and China.  Through Evaline's world travels, she became internationally known.  All her friends through out the world send their condolences.
