MR. FLETCHER HOWARD MEDLEY, 69 of MT. Gilead, NC , passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the  Leah Richter Levin Memorial Auditorium, 201 S. School St., MT. Gilead, NC.

A public viewing and Family Visitation will be held 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Leah Richter Levin Memorial Auditorium prior to the service.

Military Honors and Interment will be held 1:00 pm Monday, August 26, 2019 at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC.

Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of MT. Gilead, NC  is serving the Medley, McBride, Gilliam and extended families.

Fletcher was born on Friday, August 4, 1950 to Rush Medley, Sr., and Willie Mae Christian Medley, in Richmond County, North Carolina.

He attended Rosenwald Elementary  and Mineral Springs High School in Ellerbe, North Carolina.  Fletcher graduated from West Montgomery High School in Mt. Gilead, NC, Class of 1969.  He went on to attend and graduate from Montgomery Community College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Fletcher served as a member of the United States Army, where he received a National Defense Service Medal and was a Marksman with the M-14 rifle.  Fletcher was later honorably discharged from the US Army in 1971.  Upon leaving the military, Fletcher returned to MT. Gilead, NC   and was employed at Standard Packing until his retirement.

Fletcher confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior and attended Snow Hill Baptist Church in MT. Gilead, NC.  He was preceded in death by his father, Rush Medley, Sr.

He left to cherish loving memories to his mother, Willie Mae Medley and a special friend, Georgia Mae Crump, both of MT. Gilead, NC; three sons, Vanshion Tyson (Brandy) of Eustis, FL., Daniel Medley of Albemarle, NC and Artarius Crump of MT. Gilead, NC; four daughters, Flekeda Gilliam (James) and Tarsha Medley-McBride (Derrick), all of Charlotte, NC, Bianca Crump and Curtia Crump, both of MT. Gilead, NC; 8 grandchildren, Aaliyah Tyson, Dominique Martinm Brennan McBride, Karina Gilliam, Alexis Tyson, Jameela Tyson, Julian Tyson and Jeesa Tyson; two brothers, Rush Medley, Jr.,(Georgia) of Lilesville, NC and Lewis Medley, Sr. (Sandra) of Philadelphia, PA and two sisters, Kizzie Simmons of MT. Gilead, NC and Robinette Medley of Troy, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
