Frances (Byrd) Nixon

MRS. FRANCES BYRD NIXON, 91 of MONROE, NC, passed away peacefully Monday, April 18, 2016 at Brookdale Assistant Living Center in Monroe, NC.

A Memorial Service will be held 3:00pm Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Black's Memorial Presbyterian Church, 509 S. Parker St., Monroe, NC. Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC, is in charge.

Born on  Sunday, January 9, 1925, in Gwinette County, GA, she was a daughter of the late John and Leander Slaton Byrd.  Ms. Frances attended Winchester School in Monroe, NC, and was a faithful member of Black's Memorial Presbyterian Church and a member of the  Eastern Stars, until her health began to decline.  She enjoyed going to church and visiting the sick and shut in. Ms. Frances was married to the late Acey Nixon for 31 years before his passing.

She leaves to cherish loving and fond memories to one daughter;  Mattie Love (Willie) of Charlotte, NC;  and son; James Butler, Jr of Waxhaw, NC; one brother,  James Byrd of Monroe, NC; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren,  and eight great-great grandchildren, one niece, three nephews, and her special friends,  Maggie Byrd and George Lee Miller, and a host of other relatives and friends.
