Frank Dumas, Sr.

MR. FRANK DUMAS, SR., 83 of PAULSBORO, NJ formerly of MT. GILEAD, NC passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Deptford Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Center  in Deptford, NJ.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am  Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Leah Richter Levin Memorial Auditorium, 102 South School Street, MT. Gilead, NC, Interment will follow in the Ingram Chapel Church Cemetery, MT. Gilead.

Frank was born on Sunday, November 10, 1935, in MT. Gilead, NC, Montgomery County, North Carolina,  to the late Elijah Sr., and Jennie Chambers Dumas.

Frank received his education in the public schools of Montgomery County, NC.  After finishing school, he migrated further north to Swedesboro, New Jersey to pursue a new beginning and seek other opportunities in a vibrant industry. He first found work in the late 1950's working at a Basket Factory in Swedesboro, New Jersey and later transistioned to finding permanent employment with the local Refinery Companies in Delaware and South Jersey.

He remained working at the Refinery Companies of DuPont and Texaco for over 30 years.  At the same time, Frank was also an Advent Barber Hair Stylist, who first worked under the tutelage of another barber and later established his own Barber Shop Business, Frank's Barber Shop in Paulsboro, New Jersey.  He was a stable in the town and a very popular barber, where people would come from out of town just to get their haircut.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters, Mildred Dumas Robinson, Jennie Bell Dumas, Sallie Mae Dumas Scarboro and  Alberta Dumas McAuley and 3 brothers, Elijah Dumas Jr., Lester Dumas and Jethro Dumas.

Frank's legacy will remain with his sons, Frank Dumas Jr.,(Victoria) of Swedesboro, New Jersey and Larbard Dumas of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania and a daughter, Vanessa Smith of Brooklyn, New York; one brother, Asia Dumas (Shirley) of Mt. Gilead, North Carolina; 6 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
