Harvey Thomas

MR. HARVEY THOMAS, 68 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC , passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016, at his residence.  Funeral Services will be held 2pm Sunday, January 10, 2016 at West Montgomery High School Auditorium, 147 Warrior Drive, Mount Gilead, NC 27306.  Visitation of family and friends will be held 1:30pm to 2pm prior to the service at the Auditorium.  A public viewing  will be held 12 noon to 7pm Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Mount Gilead, NC.  Interment with Military Honors will be held 1pm Monday, January 11, 2016 at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.

Harvey was born on July 28, 1947, to the late Maston, Sr., and Annie Mae Haywood Thomas in Montgomery County, NC. He attended the public schools of Montgomery County and was a graduate of Peabody High School, Troy.

He was a Vietnam Veteran and a member of the DAV#12 and the American Legion Post #92, and a retiree of Alcoa Badin Works.  He attended Shiloh Holiness Church and was a former member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, both in Mount Gilead.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Maston Thomas, Jr., mother-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Jane Little, and a daughter-in-law, Minister Jeri Yvette Robinson.

Those left to cherish loving and fond memories are his devoted wife, Olivia "Jackie" Thomas of the home; two sons, Mitchell Robinson of Vass, NC and Kenneth Thomas (Danyl) of Mount Gilead, NC; one daughter, Demetria Baldwin; one sister, Linda Horne (Rev. Johnnie Horne) of Troy, NC; three brothers; Malcolm Thomas (Kimberly) of Mount Gilead, NC, Benjamin Thomas of Fayetteville, NC and Jerry Thomas (Linda) of Biscoe, NC;  8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one aunt, Alice Pankey (Willie) of Troy, NC; two  uncles, Lester Haywood (Myrtle) and Sylvester Haywood (Rachel), all of Mount Gilead, NC, and a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
