Helen (Little) Davis

MRS. HELEN LITTLE DAVIS, 81 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC passed away June 20, 2015 at her home.  Funeral Services will be held 1pm Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Snow Hill AME Zion Church, 204 Snow Hill Ch. Rd., Mount Gilead, NC 27306.  Visitation will be held 12:30pm to 1pm prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.  A public viewing will be held 12 noon to 7pm Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC.

Mrs. Davis, a resident of Mt. Gilead, NC, was born in Richmond County, N C, and in her early adult years, lived for a short time in Hamlet, NC.  There she met and married Russell Davis in 1958, and to this union , one child, Daisy Lee Davis, who was affectionately called "Doll", by her mother.

Seeking greater opportunities, Helen migrated north to Rochester, NY, where she worked over 30 years, in domestic and personal care services.  She loved New York and would talk glowingly about it's glamour and excitement.

Retiring in 1997, she returned to North Carolina, and eventually, settled in Mt. Gilead to be near her many relatives.

An active personality, Helen was an avid professional wrestling fan and was known for giving the wrestlers a piece of her mind. She shared this with her 12 year old great -grandson, Jaeden.

Helen was a long time member of Snow Hill AME Zion Church in Mt. Gilead where she supported it financially and spiritually until she had health challenges.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Davis, her parents, and her brother, James Grady "Buck" Little.

Those left to cherish fond and precious memories to her daughter, Ms. Daisy Lee Little; three grandchildren; Joey (Andrea) Davis, Brian (Alicia) Davis, Kayla Preyer:; five great-grandchildren; Jaelon Davis, Cameron Coley, Jaedon Davis, Peyton Davis and Sydni Davis; one niece, four nephews, and a host of others relatives and dear friends
