Mr. Henry L. Christian, Jr. 73 of Newark, NJ, formerly of Montgomery County, NC (Wadeville Community) died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at his home in Newark, NJ.  Funeral Services will be held 2pm Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Roper Grove AME Zion Church, 196 Roper Grove Church Rd., Mount Gilead, NC 27306, Reverend Conneth Clinton, Eulogist, Burial will follow in the Bruton Cemetery.  Public viewing will be held  12 noon to 7pm  Saturday, January 19, 2013 at  Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC.

June as he was fondly called, attended the public schools of Montgomery County and attended Peabody High School in Troy, NC.  In 1959, he moved to Newark, New Jersey where he remained until his untimely death.   He was owner of an auto body and mechanic shop for over 50 years in Newark.  He had been a truck driver also.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Christian, and brothers, Clarence, Richard and Matthew Christian.  He was born October 13, 1939 in Montgomery County, North Carolina to the late Henry and Viola Christian.

He leaves to cherish loving memories to his children; three daughters,Wanda Christian and Iris Christian Allison, both of Newark, New Jersey and Yvette DuVal of  Easton, Pennsylvania; three sons, Alterek Christian of Cincinnatti. Ohio, Daryl DuVal of East Orange, New Jersey and Chaft Robert Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia; four sisters, Peggy Christian of East Orange, New Jersey, Hazel Deberry of Orange, New Jersey, Grace Robinson of Mt. Gilead, NC and Margaret Christian of Newark, New Jersey;  12 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gloria Christian; 3 brothers, James Christian of  Newark, New Jersey , Alphonso Christian and Mack Christian, both of Irvington, New Jersey; 12 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives ans special friends.
