Henry Junior Watkins

MR. HENRY JUNIOR WATKINS, 64 of ANSONVILLE, NC died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the home of his mother Ms. Daisy Sturdivant Rush of Norwood, NC. Funeral Services will be 2p.m. Monday, September 22, 2014, at Cedar Hill AME Zion Church, 691 Springer Rd., Ansonville, NC 28007, with Interment with full military honors in the church cemetery.

He was the son of Mrs. Daisy Sturdivant Watkins Rush and the late Willie Thomas Watkins, and raised by his late aunt, Geneva Davis.  Henry was born on October 3, 1949, in Anson County, NC. "  Doby ", as he was fondly called by loved ones, attended the public schools of Anson and Stanly County.  " Doby " loved people, playing cards, fishing and watching baseball.  He was an  Air Force Veteran and worked in Logging.  He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Joyce Hansley and a brother, Donnell Sturdivant.

He leaves to cherish loving and fond memories, to his loving wife of 34 years;  Rosa Snuggs Watkins; his mother, Ms. Daisy Rush of Norwood, NC; two god-daughters, Sharee and Shabree Snuggs of Ansonville, NC; brothers; Fredrick Leo Rush (James)  of Charlotte, NC, Roger Sturdivant  (Ivey)of Wadesboro, NC, Greg Rush (Benita) of Winston-Salem, NC, Danny Rush of Norwood, NC; sisters, Kathy Thompson  (Mannie) of Charlotte, NC, Marlene Royal, of Salisbury, MD, and Dale Davis of Norwood, NC; 3 aunts, Jennie Fuller of Salisbury, MD, Mozelle Willoughby of Norwood, NC and Mary Ruth Sturdivant of Monroe, NC ; one uncle, James Burch of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and special friends, Alberta Davis, Jake Allen, Perry Ingram and Raymond Horne.
