Isabelle Mutt (Bennett) Faulkner

MRS. ISABELLE FAULKNER, 95 of MARSHVILLE, NC passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at her home.  Funeral Services will be held 2pm Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Mount Calvary AME Zion Church, 800 LaSalle St., Monroe, NC 28110.  Interment will follow in the Robinson Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery in Marshville, NC.  A public viewing will be held 12 noon to 7pm Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC.

Mrs. Isabelle " Mutt " Bennett Faulkner, the only child born to the late Reverend Pearl and Mary Ashcraft Bennett, came into this world, August 23, 1919, in Union County, North Carolina.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Andrew June Faulkner, Jr., and to this union four daughters were born, Karen, Mary, Rita and Marsha.  She adopted her first cousins children and raised them as her own, Anita, Jolane and Melvin.

Isabelle attended the old Marshville School,  in Marshville, NC., and also joined Robinson Chapel AME Zion Church, Marshville, NC,  where she remained  a member until her journey home.

She was employed by Wingate College for 20 years until shr retired in 1981.  She was the first black babysitter, amongst her other accomplishments at Robinson Chapel.  She was a member of the Eastern Stars Hope Chapter 455b. OES pha.  She enjoyed fellowshipping with her friends at the nutrition center.  Her favorite words were " it might be snow on the mountaintop, but its fire in the camp ".

She was preceded in death by her husband and her father until the Lord called him home at age 104.

Isabelle leaves to cherish loving and fond memories to her children, Karen Griffin,  Mary Miller (Tony), Rita and Marsha Faulkner; 12 grandchildren., 20 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
