James Elvin (Punkin) Baldwin

MR. JAMES ELVIN  "PUNKIN" BALDWIN, 67 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at CHS North East Medical Center in Concord, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Leah Richter Levin Memorial Auditorium, 102 S. School St., Mount Gilead, NC 27306.

Military Honors and Interment will be held 11:00 am Monday, June 11, 2018 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.

A public veiwing will be held 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, June 8, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Mount Gilead, NC, whom is serving the Baldwin, McBride & extended family.

" Punkin", as he was fondly called, was born on Friday, December 29, 1950, in Montgomery County, NC, to Juanita Haywood Baldwin and the late Homer Wilson Baldwin.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was presently attending the Citadel Holiness Church, Rockingham, NC.  His favorite pastime was working on his tractor, but his passion was singing.  He was a founding member of the Sensational Golden Stars and a leader of The Singing Stars of Mt. Gilead, NC.

He attended the public schools of Montgomery County and graduated from the West Montgomery High School.  He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Army Reserves.  He also attended Montgomery Community College, Troy, where he received certification in Auto Mechanics.  He was a die hard Carolina Panthers fan.

"Punkin" was united in marriage to Miss Polly McBride and to this union, three children were born, Richard, Jamie and Sharon.

He was predeceased by his father and recently his grandson, Jaquan Baldwin. He will be sorely missed.

Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Polly Baldwin of the home; daughter, Sharon Baldwin of Mt. Gilead, NC; two sons, Jamie Baldwin (Courtney) of Albemarle, NC and Richard McBride (Chandra) of Asheboro, NC; his beloved mother, Juanita Baldwin of Candor, NC; 6 brothers, Homer Lee Baldwin (Kathy) of Troy, NC, George Baldwin (Ophelia) of Mt. Gilead, NC, Ellis Baldwin of Jacksonville, Fl., Ronald Baldwin (Lena) of Jesus, GA., Eddie Baldwin of Lincolnton, NC and Danny Baldwin (Toni) of Greensboro, NC; two sisters, Glenda McAuley of Hampton, VA and Janet Johnson(Elwood) of Greensboro, NC; special aunts and uncle, Louise Hinson and Sarah Leake of Mt. Gilead, NC and Lena Crews of Greensboro, NC and Robert Dumas of Mt. Gilead, NC; 5 sisters-in-law, 5 brothers- in- law, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
