James Herbert Evans

MR. JAMES HERBERT EVANS, 59 of MONROE, NC passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Brian Center Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Harris Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Monroe, NC.  Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Monroe, NC.

A public viewing will be held  1:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC.

James was born on Friday, August 22, 1958, to the late Herbert Evans and Louise Crowder Evans in Union County, NC.

He attended the Winchester School in Monroe, NC. He was fondly known by family and friends as "Knives".  He was loved by everyone and never met a stranger. No matter where he went, he left a mark as a kind, gentle man, whether he was in the hospital or had visitors at the facility where he resided. He was predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Dorothy Smith.

He leaves fond memories to his two sisters, Marilyn Evans (Frank) of Monroe,  NC and Lou and Green (James) and one brother, Archie Evans, all of Washington, DC; two aunts, Berda Evans(Wilbur) and Margie Ree Chambers (William); two uncles, Wilbert Evans and Sonny Crowder (Ernestine); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
