James Arthur ("Hop") Pemberton

MR. JAMES ARTHUR " Hop" PEMBERTON, 75, of TROY, NC , passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at the Autumn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Biscoe, NC.

Graveside Service will be  1:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2020, at Mt. Airy A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery, 322 Rosenwald School Road, Mt. Gilead, NC.

Public viewing will be Sunday, August 31, 2020, from 2p.m. until 6 p.m., at Harris Funeral Home Chapel.

Harris Funeral Home and Cremation of Mt. Gilead, NC, is serving the Pemberton, Bowden and extended families.

James Arthur Pemberton, son of the late Pearl Pemberton, Sr.,and Mrs. Cora Lee Legrand Pemberton, was born on Wednesday, February 24, 1945, in Troy, North Carolina.

" Hop ", as he was fondly called by family and friends attended Peabody High School in Montgomery County, Troy, NC.  He was formerly employed at Crawford Recycling in Sophia, NC.  Later, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, and dwelled there for about 15 years, where he was part owner od an Automotive Repair Shop.

" Hop" loved to play golf and go fishing with his buddies.  He loved to talk and meet new friends and never met a stranger.  He will be sorely missed by family and all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl  Sr., and Cora Lee; two brothers, Frankie Pemberton and Pearl Pemberton, Jr.

Those left to cherish loving and fond memories are his son, Rodney Pemberton (Juakita) of Cleveland, Ohio; six grandchildren; Tiffany Young, Rodney Pemberton, Jr., Datarius Pemberton, DaZhanay Pemberton, DaShawn Pemberton and Janya Pemberton and six great-grandchildren;  four sisters, Shirley Bowden of Troy, NC, Carolyn Young of Trinity, NC, Irene Green (Donnell) of Mt. Gilead, NC and Flora Jenkins (Russell) of Daniel Island, SC; two special friends, Elbow and Granny of Troy, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
