Mr. James Henry Polk, was the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Julia Polk.
He was a loving husband, wonderful father, great grandfather, outstanding uncle and friend.
James was born on June 11, 1935 in Anson County, NC. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined West Deep Creek Baptist Church until he moved to Washington, DC.
He would always visit his home church during revivals and other special events. He was united in holy matrimony to Jearlean Crowder Polk and to this union produced their child...a baby girl name (Hank) Valerie.
James worked very hard as a truck driver for many years. He was a loving, stable and consistent provider. He enjoyed people, having a good laugh and a great conversation. His real passion was sitting in his recliner, watching TV and controlling the remote. He loved his car and driving to Bojangles and Kentucky Fried Chicken with his wife.
After retirement, he returned to North Carolina and rejoined his home church where he loved to worship, was a faithful member and was appointed a seat on the Deacon Board. He was proud of his position. He loved to sing hymns, serve people and spread good cheer. He enjoyed his family and was always happy to spend quality time..
James leaves a lifetime of cherished memories to his wife, Jearlean Polk, who made their house a loving home; one daughter, Valerie and husband Kevin Robertson; one granddaughter,, Robyn M. Butcher; one great-granddaughter, Ava Grace of Huntington, MD; one sister-in-law, Eva Forrest and husband Mitchell Forrest of Seat Pleasant, MD, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
