James Robinson, Jr.

Mr. James Allen Robinson, Jr., 66 of Monroe, NC died Friday, March 22, 2013 at his home.  Funeral Services will be held 1pm Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Greater Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 3607 Andrew Jackson Dr., Waxhaw, NC 28173.  Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, NC.  Public viewing will be held 11:00am to 7:00pm Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at  Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC.

Born in Lancaster County, SC, Friday, March 21, 1947 a son of the late James Allen Robinson, Sr., and Allene Craig Robinson. A 1964 graduate of Western Union and in 1965 he joined the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War.  He was severely wounded in 1968 and recieved an Honorable discharge he was a highly decorated Soldier recieving multiple honors including the Purple Heart.

James volunteered in the Union County Public School System were he spoke to the youth regarding the Vietnam War.  He faithfully attended various services where he was honored for his service to our country.

He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to the love of his life of 42 years his wife, Berthenia Barrett Robinson of home.  seven daughters; Angela Robinson and Deborah Howie both of Tampa, FL, Tonya Hailey, (Patrick) of Monroe, NC, Shawntina Robinson of Charlotte, NC, Latasha Massey, (Greg) of Waxhaw, NC, Jamie Robinson of Monroe, NC and   Allene Cheree Robinson of Monroe, NC; two sons; Jimmy Donnell Robinson of Monroe, NC and James A. Robinson, III of the home; two brothers; George Robinson, (Patricia) of Mineral Springs, NC and Harold Mitchell Robinson, (Tracy) of Charlotte, NC; 15 Grandchildren and two Great-grandchildren and a host of neices, nephews and cousins.  He was preceeded in death by three sisters; Alice Thompson, Josephine Houston and Mae Frances Faulkner and two brothers; Willie T. Robinson and Danny P. Robinson.
