Janice (Reid) Lewis

October 20, 1954 — September 12, 2019

MRS. JANICE REID LEWIS, 64 of DETROIT, MI formerly of CHARLOTTE, NC passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the  Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Mayfield Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 700 W. Sugar Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC 28213.

A visitation of family and friends will be held 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Church prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.

Born in Charlotte, NC,  Wednesday, October 20, 1954 to Ms. Margaret Reid Haley and the late Norris Brown. Janice attended Double Oaks Elementary School and graduated from J.T. Williams Union High School in Charlotte, NC. As her education continued, she received degrees from the following: Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte, NC, Greenville Community College, Greenville, SC and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Davenport University, Detroit, MI.

Janice was a member of  the Greater Grace Temple in Detroit, MI, she was very active in Sunday School and served on the Usher Board.  She enjoyed meeting and greeting people and sharing her infectious smile with others.  She also enjoyed reading books, shopping, especially for shoes, gardening, traveling and preparing to protect her family from the elements while traveling from Detroit to Charlotte during the Christmas Holidays.  Janice also participated in Zumba classes where she fellowshipped with friends.

Janice leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to her husband; Dr. Marcus E. Lewis, Jr., son; Bryan M. Lewis, mother; Margaret Reid Haley, sisters; Reverend Carolyn Boulware, Brenda Watts, Harriett Honeycutt (Melvin), Janet Fairley (James) and Kim Bailey (Selena), brothers; Steven Reid and Jeffery Reid, nephew; Darrell Reid (Reverend Shaun), nieces; Yolanda Reid, Necole Watts, Marcia Watts, Lakeysha Reis, Krystal Paige and Kelly.  A host of great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins. Sisters in law; Jaunita Ralegh (Reverend Jerry) and Bertina. Very close friends, Beverly Burks and Jackie Fletcher.
