John Henry Massey

MR. JOHN HENRY MASSEY, 78 of MONROE, NC passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Monroe Deliverence Center Church of God, 3210 Secrest Short Cut Rd., Monroe, NC  28110.

Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Monroe, NC.

A public viewing will be held 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, May 11, 2018 Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC.

John Henry, affectionately called, "Uncle Love and Love", was born on Tuesday, September 9, 1939, to the late Lillie Mae Bennett Massey and John Henry Stewart.

He attended the Winchester School in Monroe, NC and joined Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe, NC.  He later joined West Monroe Deiverance Center Church of God (now Monroe Deliverance Center Church of God), where he worshipped until his demise.  He was employed at CRS Roofing Business until he retired.

"Love" was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Hall; sister, Sarah Louannah Cheely; brother, Forrest Luther Massey; sister-in-law, Mary Massey and special friend, Myrtle Lee Pate.

He leaves to cherishloving memories to one son, Frederick Pate (Yolanda Greene) of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Maggie Alsobrooks of Charlotte, NC and LaVerne Covington (Edward) of Monroe, NC; three brothers, Sheddie Martin (Bertha Stewart) and Alfred Massey(Dale) all of Charlotte, NC and Kenneth Massey of Monroe, NC; one granddaughter, Mariah Blakeney of Lancaster, SC; very special friends, Otis and Angie Collins, James and Rita Baxter, Lenora Houston, Esther Huntley, Margie Duncan and Mabelle Staton, all of Monroe, NC; 18 nieces, 50 great-nieces, 64 great-grand nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
