John W. Mcdow, Jr.

MR. JOHN W. McDOW, JR. 67 of CHARLOTTE, NC, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his home.  A Celebration of his life will be held 1:30 pm Saturday August 13, 2016 at the Harris Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Monroe, NC.  Visitation will be held 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm prior to the service in the Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Clarksville AME Zion Church Cemetery in Monroe, NC. A public viewing will be held 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, August 12, 2016 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC.

Born Tuesday, August 24, 1948 in Union County, NC, a son of the late John W. McDow, Sr. and Carrie Louise Crowder McDow.  He was a graduate of Winchester High School and Central Piedmont Community College.  After graduating from CPCC he taught  Auto Paint and Body Repair at CPCC and operated Mack's Paint and Body Shop his family owned business in Charlotte, NC.

He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to his wife; Delores Gary McDow of the home; one sister; Lugenia McDow Polk and a brother; Michael Dennis McDow (Trina Corbitt) all of Monroe, NC, four nieces; Shakira Polk Brown of Charlotte, NC, Doren Jackson Crawley of Worchester, MA, Shaina Sadler of Gastonia, NC and Melissa Richardson of Mt. Holly, NC, four nephews; Michael Polk of Barlett, TN, Sidney Bernard Gary, Jamel Partlow and Rodney Lynch all of Gastonia, NC, one sister-in-law; Yvonne Gary of Charlotte, NC.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Clarksville AME Zion Church, 1606 Crowder Rd., Monroe, NC 28112.
