Mr. John Wayne Perry, Sr., "Sunshine", a son of the late John Thomas and Regina Perry, was born on August 27, 1951, in Monroe, NC. John went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ  on Friday, February 18, 2022,  with his devoted wife and sons by his side. John was second oldest of John and Regina's twelve children.

John accepted Christ at an early age, and he was reared and nurtured in the church.  He graduated from Parkwood High School, where he placed second in the nation for brick mason in 1971. John worked every summer with his father crafting his skill of masonry, and by the time he graduated from high school, he was a journeyman, who could read plans and make sound business decisions. John became a hardworking entrepreneur, who worked alongside his father as a brick mason to later follow in his father's footsteps into the masonry business.

John later moved and settled in Los Angeles, California, where he started his own masonry business, Perry Masonry . John employed his brothers to work alongside him.  In 1979, John married the love of his life, Nancy. John moved his family back to North Carolina where he founded John Perry Construction Company and expanded his business venture to become a General Contractor, where he began building custom homes.  In 1996, John Perry Construction paved the way for builders to come where he was recognized by the Charlotte Post as one of the only African American Home builders in the Charlotte area at that time.

John was a true man of God.  He was a faithful member and servant of Victory Christian Center for over 25 years, where he served in many capacities as an Usher, parking lot attendant, volunteering at the Men's Shelter.  He also helped with implementing " Super Saturdays" at Victory.  He loved the Lord and his family wholeheartedly and with all his soul.  In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, watching and attending sporting events, reading and serving his community where he would bring "Sunshine" wherever he went.

John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary and Rodney Perry.

John leaves to cherish his fondest memories to his devoted wife of 43 years, Nancy Pery; two daughters, Katrina Little(Charles) of Jacksonville Fl., and Kim Perry of Charlotte, NC; two sons, John Wayne Perry, Jr.(Jada), Brandon Perry (Sabrina) all of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Gwendolyn Walker (Jerry) of Concord, NC, Debra Perry-Sturdivant (Pete) of Harrisburg, NC and Angela Perry of Monroe, NC; six brothers, Donnie Perry (Mamie) of Mint Hill, NC, Aaron Perry (Cynthia) of Thomasville, NC, Randy Perry (Jean) of Monroe, NC, William Perry (Debra) of Chesterfield, SC, Todd Perry (Wendy) of Durham, NC and Jerome Perry of Monroe, NC;; 17 grandchildren, Justin, Charles, Jr., Amber, Aaliyah, Cameron, Joshua, Dasia, Jonah, Isiah, Silas, Jonathan, Jaden, Xavier, Jordan, Kynlee, Kamille and Brandon, Jr; two great-grandchildren, Awbrey and Kayleb Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
