John Edward Sowell

Mr. John Edward Sowell, 73 of Monroe, NC died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at CMC-Mercy in Charlotte, NC.  Graveside Service will be held 1pm Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. Dr. Julia Robinson, Eulogist.

Born in Chesterfield County, SC July 9, 1939 a son of the late Leroy Baker and Lola Mae Sowell Morgan.  He was retired auto mechanic and transporter for Bowie Ford  of Monroe, NC and was preceeded in death by his wife Sarah Rakestraw Sowell on August 14, 2012.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, his children; Willie "Jingle" James Allen, Shirley Rakestraw Bess, (Charles), Marvin Lewis Allen (Regina), Valerie Elaine Allen-Ware, Purnell Sowell, (Pamela), Mikal Sowell, (Tammy), Annie Sowell-Horton, (Marion), Johnny Lewis  Sowell, (Denise) all of Monroe, NC and Carnell Sowell, ( Teresa) of Fayetteville, NC; one sister; Annie Bell Chambers, (Jaylynn) of Monroe, NC; one brother; Dubie Sowell, (Junior) of South Carolina; 14 Grandchildren and a host of Great-grandchildren, Great-great -grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

Visitation will be held 6pm to 8pm  Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe.
