Johnnie Jones

Mr. Johnnie Jones, 75 of Brooklyn, NY, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.  Funeral Services will be held 2pm Friday, July 26, 2013, at McAuley Memorial AME Zion Church, 2829 NC HWY 109 S. Mount Gilead, NC, 27306.  Reverend David M. Wooley, Pastor,will be the Eulogist.  Interment will follow with  full military honors, will be held at McAuley Memorial Gardens in Mount Gilead, NC.  Public viewing will be held 1pm to 7pm Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC.

Johnnie was a Greenville County, South Carolina native and was a son of the late Thomas and Evelyn Jones., born on April 19, 1938. He attended the public schools of Greenville County.  He was a United States Navy veteran and in the Navy Reserves.  He was employed by Manhattan New York Locksmith and a volunteer at Brooklyn's Salvation Army.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Thomas, Jr., and two sisters, Mattie Morgan and Mary Jones.

Those left to cherish loving memories are three children; Anthony Dumas of Atlanta, GA; Latonya Dumas of Raleigh, NC and Angela Dumas-Leak and husband, Richard of Mt. Gilead, NC; 7 grandchildren; Dyrelle, Jaquan, Natasha, Dasaundra, Tiana, Jerika and Raquel; 4 great-grandchildren; Jeorge, Fred (DJ), McKenzie and Khristian; one brother, Charlie Jones of Greenwood, SC and one sister, Mazella Conway, of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
