MR. JOHNNY BROOKS OXNER, 87 of MONROE, NC died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his home. Funeral Services will be held 11am Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Harris Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Monroe. A public viewing will be held 1pm to 6pm Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe.
Mr. Oxner was born on July 15, 1926 in Newberry, South Carolina, to the late Mack and Carrie Summer Oxner.
He attended the public schools of South Carolina and enlisted in the Army. He was employed by hospitals in Kansas City, Missouri, New York City, and Monroe, NC.
He was preceded in death by five sisters; Orrie Bell, Chickcora, Carrie, Lessie and Lizzie; six brothers; Mack, Sammie Lee, Robert Lee, Taft, Albert and Jesse, and one son, Johnny Mack. They're all gone home with the Lord.
He leaves to cherish loving and fond memories to four daughters, Lutricia Cunningham (Sammie Lee), Sandra Hailey and Judy Staton, all of Monroe, NC, and Pauline Oxner of Alabama; two sons, Paul Oxner and Phillip
Oxner (Linda), all of Monroe, NC; 26 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousin and dear friends.
