Josephine (Legrand) Leak

MRS. JOSEPHINE LEGRAND LEAK, 80 of MT. GILEAD, NC , passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020, at Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC.

A Private Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020.

A Public Viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday, June 5, 2020 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of MT. Gilead, NC, which  is serving the Leak, LeGrand and extended families.

Mrs. Josephine LeGrand Leak, daughter of the late Walter S. and Anner R. LeGrand, was born on Friday, July 7, 1939, in Montgomery County, North Carolina.  Her earthly life came to a close on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at Firsthealth Moore Regional, Pinehurst, NC.

Josephine graduated from Peabody High School.  She joined Chestnut A.M.E. Zion Church at ab early age, was president of the Usher Board and a faithful member until her passing.

She was employed with Russell-Harvell Hosiery Mill for more than thirty years.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W.Leak, Jr.(Snowball), her son, Thomas William Leak,, III (Poochie), one brother, Walter S. LeGrand, Jr., three sisters, Estella LeGrand, Blenda J. Steele and Novella L. Turner.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving daughter, Anna M. Leak of the home; three brothers, John W.LeGrand (Shelia) of Charlotte, NC, Thomas J. LeGrand of Mt. Gilead, NC and Harley D. LeGrand of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Annie L. Timmons and Mary Bradshaw (Allison), all of Charlotte, NC and Nita Harris (Rev. Howard) of Mt. Gilead, NC; one sister-in-law, Rosa LeGrand of Ansonvlle, NC; one brother-in-law, Wade Leak of Richmond, VA; thirteen nieces and nephews; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
