Joyce Cornelia (Stanback) Pemberton

Mrs. Joyce Cornelia Stanback Pemberton, 65 of Mount Gilead, NC died Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, NC.  Funeral Services will be held 1pm Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Mount Airy AME Zion Church, 158 Rosenwald School Rd., Mount Gilead, NC 27306.  Reverend Keith Ellerbe, Pastor, Eulogist, Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.  Public viewing will be held 12 Noon to 7pm Monday, December 16, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC.

Joyce was born Tuesday, September 7, 1948 in Richmond County, NC a daughter of the late Harry and Elmira Legrand Stanback.  She joined Mount Airy AME Zion Church at an early age and was a life long member, educated in the Public Schools of Richmond County and was an employee of Gilead Manafacturing for 20 years and Collins and Aikman for 18 years.  She was a loyal and dedicated employee until her health began to decline.  She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; Nelson, Pearl and Vance Stanback and three sisters; Mattie Legrande, Jo Ann Taylor and Rometta Pemberton.

She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories of her life to four daughters; Sharon Stanback, (Tim) of McLeansville, NC, Michelle West, (Wayne) and LaVonne Jones of Mount Gilead, NC  and Sherry Bowden, (Darren) of Charlotte, NC and  one son;  Courtney Little, (Dominique) of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren; Anthony Jones, Adam West, Asia, Adrian and Andrew Jones of Mount Gilead, NC; five sisters; Ann Patterson, Polly Steele, (Henry), Nannie Legrande, Sue McLeod and Elnora Stanback and one brother; Charlie Stanback, (Dorsena); three sisters-in-laws, Virginia, Annette and Mary Stanback and one brother-in-law; John Taylor of Greensboro, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
