Joyce Carolyn (Butler) Walters

MRS. JOYCE CAROLYN BUTLER WALTERS, 67 of MONROE, NC, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury, NC.

Funeral Servcies will be held 2:00pm Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Harris Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Monroe, NC. Reverend Norman Kerry, Jr., Eulogist, Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

A public viewing will be held 1:00pm to 7:00pm Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC.

Born Thursday, July 21, 1949 in Union County a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Butler and Sarah Brewer Butler. At an early age Joyce joined the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church of Monroe, NC and attended Monroe High School in Monroe, NC. She was a retired CNA and was employed by the Brian Center Nursing Home of Salisbury, NC

She was preceeded in death by her parents, one son; Curtis Eugene Butler, one sister; Sarah Butler Thomas, three brothers; Floyd O. Butler, Benjamin Butler, Jr., and Nesbit Butler.

Survivors include her daughter; Carolyn Samantha Lyles (Mike) of Salisbury, NC, one brother; Dennis Butler of Monroe, NC and one sister; Diane Thomas (John)  of Charlotte, NC, Companion; Robert Lattimore of Salisbury, NC five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, a host of neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
